The Story of Moshe and Finding Our Strength
This is my second of six Passover posts that aim to inspire us to be better people and professionals.
Next Wednesday night, I will turn my phone off, sit at the table with my family and tell the story of Jewish emancipation from Egypt 3300 years ago.
I will tell my kids the story of Moshe/Moses shepherding his flock.
He encounters a burning bush and the presence of God. God communicates with him and tells him to facilitate the exodus of the Jews.
Moshe hears, but his responses are wavering.
He lacks confidence.
He says, what if they don’t believe me?
God says, look down at your hand, Moshe. What is in your hand?
Moshe looks down at his hand and sees a staff.
He looks at his hand and realizes this whole time he had the strength in his own hand. He thought he was lacking the strength, but he just didn’t have the confidence to see it.
How many times do we doubt ourselves? How many times do we not see in ourselves what others see in us?
We are afraid to take that leap and that risk. What if we don’t have the power? What if no one will believe us?
Many of us have been bumped and bruised by life. People in positions of power have made us feel weak and small. We have been hurt, but worst of all, we have internalized those messages and started to doubt ourselves.
Just look down at your hand. You already posses everything you need to take that next step. You just need to know it is in your hand.
This Passover, let’s take a moment to realize that we hold immense power and strength in our hands. We just have to look at ourselves and see it.
Thank you for posting this. Very encouraging
